November Drupal Training Update - new Drupal for Consultants

We've got an update on the Drupal Training (first info that we posted here) that we're presenting along with Raincity Studios. Check out the current description of training -- this is going to be updated with a longer outline in the next couple of days.

Oh, right, the update: we're locking down the first day as a more general day that should be applicable to people that don't fit neatly into either Designer or Developer, or that don't have time for a full 4 day course. So, the first day (November 14th) will be a general overview. What is Drupal, what can I build with it, how do I configure it? A guide to Drupal.org and finding information there. Is Drupal right for me, for what I want to build? I think that for any consultant or project manager that has heard about Drupal, or even installed it and checked it out a bit, this first day should provide a solid grounding in spec'ing Drupal projects, or perhaps determining if Drupal is right for your internal organization.

The whole 4 day course is $800USD, just the first day is $250USD, with a catered lunch and snacks, and delicious coffee from Workspace.

We've also just decided that we'll be handing out USB keys with information on it. Everything from a PDF version of the Drupal.org handbooks to a copy of XAMPP with which we're going to teach people how to run their own local development environment. This will be included for all 4 day participants, or available for $25 to those who are only attending one day.

Contact Raincity or us if you have any questions. So far, we've got people coming from as far away Denver and maybe some Californians, too.

Initial announcement: Drupal Training in Vancouver presented by Raincity Studios and Bryght, November 2006

This is an initial announcement about a training session that Raincity Studios and Bryght will be jointly putting on. The training will be here in Vancouver in mid November, and will feature a developer-centric track with training by Djun and James, and a design-centric track put on by Raincity's design ninjas. The first day will be a joint overview applicable to both developers and designers.

What: Drupal training for developers and designers -- leave with a solid base of understanding to be able to tackle complex Drupal projects, as well as learning how to work with the community
When: November 14 - 17th, 2006
Where: Workspace, Vancouver, BC
Cost: $800USD per person (only $200USD per day, including food)

We'll have more details on the full course outline up in the next week. Complete details are available on the Raincity Studios training pages: Drupal Training November 2006, Vancouver, BC

Looking for other training locations and dates? Our friends at Lullabot plan training on a regular basis -- check their training page for upcoming events.

Come join us at Drupal Camp Seattle, June 28th - 29th

Bryght, along with CivicActions and Raincity Studios, is helping organizing Drupal Camp Seattle. Here is the announcement from the Drupal Camp Seattle group:

Drupal Camp Seattle is an opportunity to learn about the Free and Open Source Drupal Content Management System. This community driven event will focus on the PHPTemplate theming system, theme-able functions, Drupal 4.7 modules, module development and CiviCRM.

Who Should Attend:

If you are a php programmer, or a css/xhtml programmer looking to increase your ability to rapidly deploy websites for clients, work with other people doing interesting things, and generally spend less time re-inventing the wheel or maintaining your own proprietary or single source CMS, this event is a perfect introduction to Drupal. You'll leave with a comprehensive understanding of deploying a Drupal website out of the “box” and a foundation on which to build your Drupal knowledge.

If you have started to dabble in Drupal, either as an application specialist type (installing and configuring but not hacking on code) this is a great opportunity to learn more, and learn tips and tricks from others.

If you are a webmin, online director or organizer for your company or organization and are looking to move away from a static HTML site, add interactive features, blogging, events calendars, forums or other community building functionality, this is a great event to learn about Drupal's capabilities and even come away ready to build your site.
